For businesses nationwide, Small Business Saturday is huge. You can become involved whether you are a business owner yourself or solely a consumer. Find out what this day is all about below.
What is Small Business Saturday?
Small Business Saturday is a national shopping day. It always takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It originated in 2010, by American Express. The day overall encourages consumers to shop small and support their local communities by supporting the small businesses that encompass them. Basically, it is a day to commemorate all the small businesses in your community.
Just like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Small Business Saturday ignites the start of the holiday season. Thus, Businesses will typically offer sales and other incentives to boost sales and profits on this particular day. Also, Businesses will promote their products and services like no other, emphasizing to consumers how important these local businesses truly are.
How do You Participate?
Small Business Saturday is essential for small businesses. However, that does not mean only small businesses can and do participate. Other participants can be:
- Consumers
- Local communities
- Corporations
- Government representatives
Quite frankly, anyone can become involved. The list is never ended as all and any participation is warranted. Promote your own small business or purchase from your favorite neighborhood store. Get involved, it doesn’t matter how. Be on the lookout for small businesses promoting their businesses. Give them that like, follow, or share, on any platform. Helping businesses in your local community is what Small Business Saturday is all about! However, the support can be everlasting, it does not have to occur solely on this day.
Is it Too Late to Participate Now?
